You might have seen in the media that the state no longer requires students to pass the High School Proficiency Examinations in order to graduate. Recently, the Nevada Department of Education notified CCSD that all former students who earned all of their required credits but failed to graduate as a result of not passing one or more of the High School Proficiency Examinations, are now eligible to be considered a graduate.
CCSD is receiving a high volume of calls from former students requesting that their transcript now reflect that they have graduated. Please note that CCSD will not be distributing updated transcripts through schools. Instead, all requests will go through Student Records. Please CLICK HERE to open instructions (PDF) on how former students can obtain a revised transcript.
CCSD anticipates it will take at least 90 days to provide revised transcripts, as this decision likely will affect thousands of people who have attended high school at CCSD since 1982. There will not be a charge for the initial copy of the revised transcripts for those who are requesting a Proficiency Exemption Request.
For now, given the high volume of requests CCSD anticipate, they plan to issue revised transcripts only. Once they have caught up with the requests for transcripts, they will develop a process for issuing diplomas.
Thank you for your patience.
