CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara has issued the following message regarding program changes to the food distribution program:

“Clark County School District Food Service staff have worked diligently during the school closures to ensure students have access to food by hosting food distribution sites throughout the District. Since the current school closure more than 580,000 meals have been distributed to more than 290,000 children. As this work is critical, and to ensure students continue receiving meals, CCSD will be keeping its 36 meal distribution sites open during the upcoming Spring Break scheduled from April 6, 2020 to April 10, 2020.

One important change to note, starting Monday, April 6, CCSD’s food distribution sites will be serving meals at a new time from 9 a.m. until noon. This new time will apply even after Spring Break.

I’ve seen demand for meals first hand at the distribution sites as I participated in a mobile distribution site recently providing meals to our students at various sites around town. It re-enforced how critical it is to provide food to families with limited transportation options.

With that in mind, CCSD will also begin limited mobility food distribution at 10 additional school sites starting April 6 with various days and times.

Monday and Wednesday

9 – 10 a.m. – Dooley ES & Brown JHS

10 – 11 a.m. – Steven ES, Hinman ES & Cunningham ES

Each student will be provided two days of meals on Monday and three days of meals on Wednesday.

Tuesday and Thursday

9 – 10 a.m. – Galloway ES & Burkholder MS

10 – 11 a.m. – Kesterson ES, Thorpe ES & Ullom ES

Each student will be provided two days of meals on Tuesday and three days of meals on Thursday.

Parents and guardians are now able to pick up meals for their children without a child needing to be present. However, parents/guardians picking up meals without children present at CCSD distribution sites are asked to show their student’s ID card when picking up a meal. However, if a school ID is not available, they will be asked to provide the student’s name and ID number.

Meals are available for all children ages 2 -18. To locate a site near you, visit ccsd.nutrislice.com.”
